Annular Parachute

Annular Parachute

Traditional UAV recovery systems rely mostly on round or cruciform parachutes, which are limited in maneuverability and accuracy. The challenge was to merge two technologies – advanced ram air parachutes from the skydiving industry and UAV platforms – to achieve safe in-flight deployment, precise steering, and pinpoint landings. In addition, the parachute needed to fit within restricted UAV compartments, demanding an ultra-lightweight and low-bulk design without compromising strength or reliability.

Steerable

Traditional UAV recovery systems rely mostly on round or cruciform parachutes, which are limited in maneuverability and accuracy. The challenge was to merge two technologies – advanced ram air parachutes from the skydiving industry and UAV platforms – to achieve safe in-flight deployment, precise steering, and pinpoint landings. In addition, the parachute needed to fit within restricted UAV compartments, demanding an ultra-lightweight and low-bulk design without compromising strength or reliability.

UAV Parachute

Designing a UAV parachute system with an ultra-lightweight profile while maintaining safe descent characteristics posed a unique engineering challenge. The requirement was clear:
– Total parachute weight under 800 g
– Payload capacity up to 75 kg
– Sink rate below 4 m/s

Airbag

AIRBAGS

Designing a reliable recovery system for UAVs requires ensuring safe landings with minimal impact forces. For a 75-kilogram UAV, the greatest challenge was inflating a very large airbag volume in the shortest possible time.
The inflation process needed to perfectly align with the descent phase after parachute deployment. Any delay would compromise protection at impact. Meeting this requirement demanded a lightweight, compact, and ultra-fast deployment solution.

Soft Gurney

Evacuating injured or incapacitated individuals from tight, confined, or obstructed environments presents serious challenges. On the battlefield, rubble, collapsed structures, or mountainous terrain often make rigid gurneys impractical. In civilian life, medical teams face similar obstacles:
